I am thinking about the meta game i eventually want to put into 2aw.
Purpose of the meta game is to prove an interesting backdrop to the battles that happen in the zones. Features need to for a good meta game: 1 Players can choose to ignore it 2 It is slow paced, like a browser game that takes days to play out. 3 It must utalize players do stuff for you.
Here is my thoughts:
Each starsystem is connected via navagation lines to other stars. Each zone is connected via navagation lines to other zones in the same system. The star system falls when all of the zones have been taken inside. When a star system is taken you can follow the navagation lines and attack any zone inside the the connected star system. That zone becomes the encursion point. Once a one zone has been taken in a star system you can only attack zone connected to it untill all zones are taken.
Zones and players have galaxy points. Zones have stuff in them like factories and mines that add to their galaxy point value.
When players take a zone thouse zone galaxy points are redestributed to the players.
Players can "bet" their galaxy points on systems to be taken. When zone is taken that bet pays off. The bet amount of payoff demilishes with time and number of attempts to take the zone.
When a player "bets" on a zone being held. He gets a payff of each time the zone is sucessfully defended. The bet dimilishes over time or compleatly goes a way when the zone is lost.
The zone activation system looks for most intersting zones to activate, ones that have most bets and have not been fought over in a while. The number of zones active based on the number of players currenlty logged into the server, more players more zones.
The way to win the meta game is to get most galaxy points.
